One of a Kind at Net a Porter brings you vintage with a designer price tag
Spring 2009 Wish List!
With a few more Milan shows and Paris still to go, there's only a bit more time to dream of spring 2009 before fall 2008 hits us hard! So I've compiled a list of my favorites from the runways we've seen so far. It's New York heavy since these pieces have been rolling around in my head all month long. I'm not sure if all these items all fit into one wardrobe or not, or if this list just reveals how fashion-schizo I really am. Whatever the case, this is my spring 2009 wish list!
50 fabulous gifts under $50 #1-10
Last week we showed you 10 gifts under $100 (and 20 under $200 the week before that!) but now it's time for our biggest and cheapest gift list yet. Check out the first ten items in our 50 under $50 roundup. Done your shopping? This doubles as a wish list for post-Christmas sales.
Outfit Pick: Goldsign Misfit super stretchy jeans and Givenchy-esque chain top
The affects of Givenchy's fall 08 chain dresses are still being felt, so you can find something like this Forever 21 chain trim tunic, $19.80, everywhere. It's perfect for pairing with Goldsign's super-stretchy Misfit slim leg jeans, $218. Thanks to 35% four-way stretch, the denim is likened to the feel of leggings. And what to wear with your dark wash skinny jeans but a tough-chic bootie. We chose Steve Madden's Slasssh bootie, $199.95, even though we're generally opposed to open-toed boots in winter. But, what better way to show off the new Chanel nail colors we're all coveting? Top it all off with this Jimmy Choo Eva leather clutch, $1,170 to remind everyone you've got class.

European Fashion Award FASH 2009 - New Diversity
4/21/2008 - Customers surf between fashion worlds, break up the culture and identity of brands and merge them with other sectors and genres to express their own identity. This new hybrid fashion is presenting designers with a great challenge: how can you design variety instead of uniformity, collages instead of decals, flexible offers instead of rigid styles and still create a clear design statement? What do new, visionary strategies for fashion in the 21st century look like? The European Fashion Award - FASH 2009 - is searching for answers under the title "New Diversity".The European Fashion Award "Fash" has been presented by the Stiftung der Deutschen Bekleidungsindustrie (German Fashion Industry Foundation) - SDBI annually since 2005. It was honored by the location initiative of German government and business world "Germany - Land of Ideas", as a "Selected Landmark 2008". The SDBI was founded by the fashion entrepreneur Klaus Steilmann in 1978. The goal of the non-profit foundation is pioneering promotion of talented young people.
Click Chic: The Fine Art of Fashion Photography
School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “Click Chic: The Fine Art of Fashion Photography,” an exhibition documenting the vitality of fashion photography as a vehicle for creative expression, formal experimentation and social commentary. On view will be nearly 50 images by six emerging and established photographers based in New York who have created distinctive bodies of work in fashion: Roderick Angle, Guy Aroch, Maki Kawakita, Ryan Michael Kelly, Chiun-Kai Shih and Sarah Silver. With cultural reference points as rich and varied as Art Nouveau, Buddhism, film noir, modern dance and Japanese Kabuki theater, they have made fashion photography their primary practice, applying a conceptual and formal rigor traditionally associated with fine art.“Because they’re originally conceived and created to appear in magazines and advertisements, fashion photographs are often considered disposable,” said exhibition curator Dan Halm.
Designer Menswear Winter 08-09: The Classic Codes of the Tuxedo
Men's designers from Paris and Milan have taken their inspiration from the classic codes of the tuxedo whilst details such as shawl collars and satin or velvet trims are used to create new products.
Dries VAN NOTEN shows a flannel jacket with a satin shawl collar. In his own collection, Kris VAN ASSCHE presents a tuxedo-inspired jacket worn over a boilersuit, while FERRAGAMO mixes sports style with the tuxedo. Ann DEMEULEMEESTER adds a ruched shirtfront to a shawl-collared jacket.
In menswear, the tuxedo is a source of inspiration and reinvention. In its Men's Summer 09 Trendbook, Promostyl features it twice: firstly in the ACADEMIC theme in it's approach to t-shirts and secondly in the SPECTACLE theme where classic codes go between rock and romanticism.

Texworld Trend information Unique - Colour and Fabric Trends for Winter 2009-2010
The quality of uniqueness, distinctiveness is what makes characters something special. Today, people increasingly manage more to express and communicate their individuality via the new media. Styles are reflected in a multitude of facets in their wardrobes. The search for something special leads to a reassessment of materiality. Hand-crafted excellence, innovative technology, original visuals and exceptional handles make fabrics unique. Emotional colour contrasts and eccentric motifs fill us with astonishment. They give magic back to fashion. In this connection, the fabrics gain their inspiration from nature and either quote minerals, woods, furs and feathers or orientate themselves on the urban graphics of modern art and graffiti. Hand-crafted quality and high-tech work hand-in-hand to create fabrics which combine ultramodern performance with the necessary human touch.
